My name is Lizzie, I am a senior. I am pursuing an Art Major with a Minor in Museum Studies. I am from Spanaway, WA, but have been living in Ellensburg for 4 years now. I enjoy learning about art, it was introduced to me at a young age, I attended an elementary school that had a specialty in Arts and Sciences; and both my mom and older brother are published artists (Mom painted a Pony on Parade for the Down Town Seattle Association, and brother is a photographer and graphic designer.) I hope to someday work in a museum or gallery, either as a curator or an owner. I have two older brothers, and wonderful roommate is a temperamental beta fish named Vladamir. (2 gold stars to the person who can guess the correct Vladamir he is named after..)
Hi Lizzie! Welcome to the class. I'm glad that you enjoy learning about art. I'm also happy to know that you hope to go into museum work! Before I became a college professor, I worked a little in the museum industry. It's a very fun place to be! I really enjoyed having a "hands-on" experience with fantastic works of art.

ReplyDeleteI think it's really great that your mom, your brother, and you are all following a similar career. I'm sure it will be nice to have them around to give you tips and tricks for the industry. I know what you mean about your beta fish, they are a bit crazy. I used to have a purple beta fish named Pancho. He died several years ago and I cried because it was totally my fault. One day I was changing his tank water so I decided to put him in a little bowl with water. I became a bit distracted on what I was doing and began to play video games. When I came back to put him back into the tank, he had flopped out of the bowl and was stuck dried to my kitchen floor! I was so upset. I laugh about it now, but at the moment I felt like a bad pet owner.
